CEDAR RAPIDS - Waterloo East took seven wrestlers to the Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawk Invitational Saturday. Six of them placed.
Trojans Kyven Gadson and Kirk Sallis Jr. won championships. Gadson, who pinned his finals opponent in 37 seconds, received the Gregorian award for most pins in the least amount of time, taking out three oppoents in a collective 1:33.
Sallis Jr. defeated Eric DeVos of Waverly-Shell Rock in the finals, 16-5, and was named the most outstanding wrestler.
There weren't many disappointments for the Go-Hawks, who sent seven wrestlers to the finals and came away with five champions en route to the team title.
Tanner Werner, Jordan Rinken, Jake Ballweg, Anthony Walther and Cody Krumwiede won championships for W-SR.
